The Artist Residence Dublin -Heritage Seaside B&B

Where every room and every space has a story to tell

At The Artist Residence Dublin, we welcome every guest as a friend. Built in 1921, at the same time modern Ireland itself was born, this rare and authentic Irish coastal cottage is lovingly run by the fourth-generation Corr family. Thoughtfully restored to preserve its original character while offering modern comfort and country elegance, it provides a perfect base from which to explore Dublin City, the Howth Peninsula and the rest of Ireland.

Staying with us is an invitation to experience the authenticity of a uniquely preserved 100-year-old Irish coastal cottage Bed and Breakfast. So distinctive is this home that television channel HGTV chose The Artist Residence to feature in its series House Hunters International.

Every room and every space has its own story to tell. With carefully restored antiques, natural furnishings, layered textures, and original artwork throughout the house, The Artist Residence reflects our love of creativity, beauty, and detail. If art fills our cottage with inspiration, the surrounding Irish Sea shapes its essence -infusing every space with coastal rhythm, changing light, and ever-present views across the Irish Sea, Dublin Bay, and the Howth Peninsula.

Shaped by the sea, our gardens also offer peaceful seaside spaces to pause, reconnect and be inspired. Many of the shrubs, trees, and flowers are original to the cottage, while others have been added more recently, continuing a long tradition of nurturing the land. We grow much of our own produce, which features in our delicious breakfasts, and guests can enjoy fresh eggs from our own egg-laying hens, all included in your stay.

Caring for this historic home also means caring for the environment that surrounds it. Sustainability is central to how we live and host. Over time, we have improved energy efficiency, conserved water, reduced waste, and completed a thorough verification process to document our environmental practices. This is what we believe our cottage, our environment, and our guests deserve.

As you can see The Artist Residence is far more than a place to stay. Shaped by care, craft, and thoughtful living, every visit is designed to inspire, delight, and become a fond, lasting memory.

We cannot wait to welcome you to your own Irish cottage by the sea.

Best wishes,
Bea and everyone at The Artist Residence

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

The Artist Residence is the Perfect B&B

My words cannot properly describe the amazing experience my wife and I had at The Artist Residence (AR). Begonia and David are the wonderful hosts of the AR. They alone, make any stay at AR an event you will remember for a lifetime. Begonia is an incredible artist and her taste in decoration, furniture and gardening make you feel so welcome and comfortable. Her breakfasts are other-worldly. Her afternoon snacks make you want to get back ASAP each day. And David’s hand-pressed coffee is the best we’ve ever tasted across the globe…no exaggeration! Each room is terrific and uniquely different in its own perfect way. We stayed in “Stella’s Room.” With the windows open, the breeze from the sea and quiet made all my stress disappear. The Breakfast Room is probably my favourite room of all time. I could sit in it and relax for hours, just drinking coffee and learning about the truly incredible history of AR, Uncle Hugh, and all Begonia and David accomplished bringing this beautiful cottage back to life. AR is located close to Howth and Malahide, only a few bus stops away. Dublin is an easy train ride away as well. Begonia, David and the AR represent the absolute best of Ireland. When we think of our trip to Ireland, they are the first and best memories we have. We will return to Ireland just to stay at AR and spend wonderful hours visiting with Begonia and David again. Do not miss out on staying at The Artist Residence. - Andy & Kim

The Best B&B I've ever been to

The Artist Residence is literally the most awesome place to stay. I travel the world since decades but this was the most amazing experience. We felt to be at home away from home from the first minute. the hosts are such lovely people and we had such a lovely time there. They managed to fulfill all our needs and even baked and cooked vegan dishes for us. the garden is so peaceful and quiet. The rooms are wonderful and the beds extremely comfortable. we can't wait to come back.

Hidden gem!
We feel so fortunate to have found this remarkable place. Our hostess was beyond helpful and the attention to detail amazing. (I have to mention the lovely linens!) My only regret is that our schedule didn’t allow us enough time to just relax and enjoy. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you again to our hostess!

Calm and peaceful
Our trip to Dublin didn't really go as expected, but in all the uncertainty, the Artist's Residence was a haven, the hosts are so easy to communicate with. It was so nice to have a warm bed in a quiet room waiting for us after a long, long day. The hosts are warm and welcoming, the house and grounds are lovely, the rooms are quiet, cozy, and comfortable, and the breakfasts are DIVINE. There's a commuter train line into the heart of Dublin only 10 minutes walk away, so getting around is really easy. We were very sorry that our trip was only two days and we're already making plans to go back!
