Beach towels, blankets, umbrellas, binoculars, telescopes are also available for guests. Picnic baskets are organised on request as the cottage is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Ireland.
We also offer large gardens with various sitting areas for our guests to enjoy a space to sit and relax. Our sand-stone patios furnished with hand painted furniture have been specially landscaped for guests to enjoy morning coffee, afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks or just a quiet space to luxuriate in the sun and sea-breeze. Guests are also invited to visit our vegetable garden, artists at work (if in residence) and our egg-laying hens.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The property is very well connected by public transport to Dublin city centre, the airport (102 bus) and other parts of Ireland. There is a bus stop right opposite the cottage and the train station, which will bring you into the city centre in 15 minutes, is just minutes’ walk away. The Artist Residence Dublin is the perfect base for visiting other areas in Dublin and Ireland due to its excellent bus and train links. The Artist Residence Dublin offers the best of both worlds; close enough to Dublin city centre, but with the feel of being in the beautiful Irish country side.

WHAT TO DO AND SEE

Opposite The Artist Residence Dublin, guests will find a beach, wonderful walking trails along the sea front, Dublin Bay and around the Howth Peninsula including Howth Cliffs, just a few minutes away.

A range of activities is offered in the area, such as golfing, windsurfing and cycling. The Walking trails opposite The Artist Residence Dublin are of particular interest. The Artist Residence Dublin is also 10 minutes' drive to the village of Howth and Malahide. Howth is “Ireland’s best kept secret” according to one of our guests. Minutes away: Croke Park stadium, The 3Arena and other major entertainment and sport venues.

There are wonderful historic places of interest just minutes away: Howth Village, Howth Castle, Deer Park & Dolmens, Malahide village & Malahide Castle, Burrow Beach, Portmarnock Beach and Clontarf where Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, lived and of course Dublin City.

We are fortunate to have an abundance of restaurants in the area, enough to meet every budget and palate.

The Artist Residence Dublin is an extremely efficient environmentally friendly B&B, having undergone a rigorous verification process and extensive work to conserve, store and reuse rainwater, receiving a certification.

HISTORY OF THE ARTIST RESIDENCE DUBLIN 

The cottage has been in the same family The Corrs since it was built in 1921. The land was bought from the Earl of Howth and during the 1940s it was already a guest house run by Kathleen Corr, a widow at the time. The cottage had fallen into dereliction in the past few decades until its present owners envisioned saving this property full of history and character and restoring it into a B&B. The restoration work started in 2011. Particular attention has been paid to restoring all the original furniture and features, the use of natural materials and ensuring the B&B is as eco-friendly as possible. Guests are invited to visit our vegetable garden and egg laying hens.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is included in the room rate. A wide selection of breakfast options are available, including freshly cooked hot options. All ingredients are sourced locally from artisans, and eggs are from our own hens. Vegetables and herbs, used in our breakfasts, are mostly grown in our vegetable garden when in season.

At this beautiful B&B, wake refreshed every morning to a delicious gourmet breakfast consisting of a fresh fruit course, pastries, cheeses, followed by a hot main course, made from scratch and served every morning between 7:30:00 – 10:00 a.m. in our charming dining room, or on the lovely patio overlooking the sea and gardens during warmer weather.

We pride ourselves on using fresh, simple ingredients, as well as the many vegetables and herbs we grow ourselves and fresh eggs from our egg laying hens so we can prepare the best meals for our guests. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked breakfast every morning, made by our chef / host. Whether you are craving a hearty breakfast or a smaller meal with your coffee or tea, we are happy to accommodate your needs.
